What is somatics?
The word somatics comes from the Greek word soma, meaning the living body.
In somatic practice, we tend to the living body as experienced from within.
Somatics is an approach to exploring your lived experience through the body. It brings attention to sensation, emotion, movement, thought, and the patterns that shape how you respond to yourself and the world around you.
You might notice your jaw tighten before you say yes to something you don’t want. Your breath change when you imagine sharing your work. An impulse to move away, reach out, speak, or rest.
These experiences give us something to explore. We become curious about what happens, the meaning you give it, and what support or choice might be available.
In my practice, this includes nervous system awareness: learning to recognise your responses to stress, connection, and uncertainty, and exploring what helps you feel supported and present. Your body’s responses become part of a conversation that also includes your values, intuition, relationships, and circumstances.
When we welcome our body in its wholeness, we open ourselves to the wisdom it holds.
The Relationship Before Everything
The relationship you have with yourself reaches into every part of your life.
And this relationship has roots. Our experiences, the messages we receive, and the ways we learn to belong shape how we see ourselves and relate to one another. Some of that learning still serves us. Some leaves less room for who we are now.
I guide women and mothers in cultivating an active, embodied relationship with themselves through somatic exploration, intuitive inquiry, and creative practice. Together, we build a bridge between your inner experience and the life you live.
This is the relationship we tend. The one you carry into everything.
How we work together
We begin with what brings you here, listening to your body and what’s asking for your attention. I offer a structure for exploration, and together we follow what unfolds, at a pace that feels right for you. Your choice matters throughout.
We may work with:
Conversation, writing, guided meditation, oracle, and intuitive guidance may also enter our work.
There is room for imagination, spiritual meaning, and the wisdom you bring. We explore what these experiences mean to you and how you want to carry them into your life.
Living the work
We make room for what’s emerging through you. Together we explore how what you discover can take root in everyday life.
Your unfolding is your own. These principles help scaffold our journey along the way.
